Description:
1968 TR-250 is a rare transition year with TR-4 body and TR-6 running gear.
I have owned it for approx. 17 years. My brother-in-law for about 15 years. He was a boat racing mechanic and owned a marina. I know he rebuilt two other Triumphs, but not sure about this one. It runs and starts great, burns no oil. I used to drive it frequently, but only two or three times per month now, since I moved to Lake Worth, Florida. It has almost always been garaged and never driven in salt conditions during the time the two of us owned it. There are three minor paint chips (not dings) on the side.
Approximately 1994 I had it professionally restored and painted. All identification numbers match. I use Corrosion Block once per year on the metal and electrical to fight rust and corrosion.
The front right caliper is stainless steel, I never converted the others; but the brakes are fine and stop straight. The seats are original. The driver seat has a 1 inch tear at the seam, which can be easily sewn. The canvas top shrunk, but still works. The "top" frame is in excellent condition. The fenders are solid, including the top bead area. He evidently used a little fiber glass in the front of the top rear fender for leveling, it is popping a little. I don't see any sign of glass being used anywhere else on the car.
I have electronic ignition, which can be removed to put points and condenser back on. The SU carbs. have been rebuilt. New windshield from England. The radiator was "cored" and is in excellent condition. Many other new parts.
The paint is in excellent condition. I would rate it as a 7 in / 7 out.
