1967 Porsche 912 Great Vintage Sports Car. 110, 648 Miles, Year: 1967, Make: Porsche, Model: 912, VIN: 459462, Mileage: 110, 648, Transmission: Manual, Engine: 4 - Cyl. 1.6 L, Exterior Color: Red, Body Style: 2DR Coupe, Title Status: Clear, Interior Color: Black. This Porsche needs an engine rebuild ($2000-2500) This car gives a ton of fun for the money. It allows you to really feel the road¸ the engine and the car's movement. It is a welcome change from the desensitized feel of today's sports cars¸ with all the head turning appeal. The 912's lighter body (than the 911) and the cutoff year (1967) make this car an excellent candidate for vintage racing. The car is a German import or "Euro" version¸ and has a 5 pod display¸ KM/hr odometer/speedometer¸ 5 speed transmission¸ & European tail lights. The Porsche 912 was similar in design to the 911 and eased the transition from the 356 to the 911. In comparison with the 911, the 912 had less power, but weighed about 250 pounds less. A racing pattern 5-speed gearbox was matted to a detuned 356-based 4-cylinder engine that produced 64 horsepower. The engine was mounted in the rear and powered the rear transaxle. Disc brakes and independent suspension with torsion bars gave the car excellent and impressive handling. The Recaro seats kept the driver planted and the rack-and-pinion steering was very responsive. During its production run that include the 912 and 912E, nearly 35, 000 examples were produced. It had achieved victory in the racing world, served as European police cars, and was featured in the movie 'Spy Games' staring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. This vehicle has not been smoked in. It is obvious that this Porsche has been taken care through out its life, as it shows to be well maintained and in beautiful cosmetic condition. This vehicle's interior is very clean with the exception of a crack in the driver's seat leatherette and a broken seems in the rear seat. There is a spot of rust under the accelerator, and I would not have known unless my mechanic told me about it. This car is not currently running, as the engine seized about 4 days ago. Also, there are 3 things on this vehicle that may require attention in the next year, but none that significantly affect the cars current drivability and feel. The first addition would be a new ignition switch (retail $100). The second thing would be to change the CV boots. Lastly¸ I would replace the original Solex air cleaners with K & N filters. The car runs great and would run even better with new air cleaners (retail $74 - for conversion kit and filters). The air cleaner swap would improve performance¸ keep the carburetor jets clean and improve cosmetic look of the engine. I just spent over a thousand dollars (receipts available) correcting any little things that seemed to be wrong with the car, and getting it tuned just right. You are not inheriting a load of repair issues, when you purchase this Porsche. In addition to the rare manuals; there are extra parts, including an extra generator (retail $200 just for the core), a vintage blaupunkt stereo and a speedometer. I have not tested the performance of the extra parts that I have acquired. Price 8, 000 neg, Full Financing available. For more details, Call Kevin Falvey pvt seller at 602-705-7515.
